The more a person gets attached to something, the harder it will be to let go, the more painful it is when it's no longer around. Humans are funny creatures. They get attached to things easily - be it another human, an animal and even something "unreal" such as a virtual pet. Perhaps it stems from the fact that no one truly likes to be alone. Knowing that nothing lasts forever, people willingly get themselves attached to something & end up being hurt @ the end. It doesn't make sense.
